The session gathered representatives from renowned aviation schools across the country, including WCC-ATC, Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA), PATTS College of Aeronautics, FEATI University, Indiana Aerospace University, and Ateneo de Davao. The primary agenda was to discuss and establish the action plan and the plan-to-plan of the working group for the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) OnePH Aviation initiative.
OnePH Aviation is an initiative spearheaded by the Office of UnderSecretary for Aviation and Airports, Atty. Roberto “Bobby” Lim, with the goal of positioning the Philippines as a hub for education, training, and human capital development of civil aviation professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.
Representing WCC-ATC were Mr. Raymond Patrick Guico, President; Dr. Roger Martinez, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Mr. Jimuel Tabag. The meeting was attended by key figures from various sectors, including Capt. Victor Aguilar, OIC - Training Organization Certification and Inspection Division, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP); PBGEN Rodelio B. Jocson (Ret), Director IV, Transportation Security Accreditation and Management Service - Office of Transportation Security (OTS); and Atty. Erika Wijangco, Deputy Legal Counsel, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC).
Representatives from various support sectors also attended, further enriching the discussions with diverse perspectives.
This session marked a crucial step in the collective effort to enhance aviation education and training in the Philippines. With the collaborative efforts of esteemed educational institutions and regulatory bodies, the OnePH Aviation initiative is poised to make significant strides toward positioning the Philippines as a hub for aviation professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.
