WCC Aeronautical and Technological College (WCC-ATC) and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) ink partnership in British Columbia, Canada

WCC Aeronautical and Technological College (WCC-ATC) has marked another milestone in advancing aviation training through international collaboration.

In a signing ceremony held on April 6 at BCIT’s campus in Burnaby, Canada, Raymond Patrick V. Guico, President of WCC Aeronautical and Technological College (WCC-ATC)  and Dr. Lawrence Gu, Dean BCIT International Education of British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)  inked a partnership to launch the academic collaboration for Aircraft Maintenance Technology and Avionics Program. 

The partnership is initiated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) led by its Chairman, Prospero De Vera III and legitimizes its pilot program, titled “Twinning and Training Program for a ladderized Diploma Program in Aircraft Maintenance Technology leading to Bachelor’s Degree in Aircraft Technology” between the WCC Aeronautical & Technological College (WCC-ATC), Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) with the Philippine Air Force (PAF), and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).”

De Vera, who attended the ceremony via Zoom, said the partnership includes faculty and student mobility and developing joint programs that will help students show their readiness and competitiveness as graduates on the global stage.

Guico also noted that the “partnership opens doors for international collaboration for capacity building, technology transfer, and applied research.” It also paves the way to transforming the Philippines into an aircraft maintenance hub in Southeast Asia in addition to filling Canada’s gap in avionics and aircraft maintenance professionals, he added.

The virtual event was witnessed by His Excellency, Peter MacArthur, Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines (top right); Atty. Lily Freida C. Milla, CHED OIC Deputy Executive Director, CESO IV Director IV and Director III, International Affairs Staff; Angel Cachuela, Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada; Dr. Steve Perry, Dean (interim) at BCIT School of Transportation; and Dr. Sanja Bosko, Associate Dean at BCIT School of Transportation (bottom left).

WCC Aeronautical and Technological College (WCC-ATC) is one of the best aviation schools in the Philippines. The institution, which is a recipient of the Eagle Award by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), is inclusive of a network of five campuses, and has been providing excellent aviation education for more than 17 years.
