On November 05, 2023, the Quality Assurance and Technology Office (QATO) at WCC Aeronautical & Technological College Binalonan along with the Community Extension and Services Office (CESO) and the Unified Council of Aviators conducted the first-ever seminar on water and energy efficiency for the business owners of their adopted community, Brgy. Canarvacanan, Binalonan. The organizers invited experts from PANELCO III and BIWAD to share their knowledge and advice on water and energy efficiency.

The program formally started with the opening remarks of Barangay Captain Ferdinand Cabida of Brgy. Canarvacanan where he thanked the WCC ATC Binalonan for choosing their barangay residents as participants of the seminar on water and energy efficiency.

The first speaker of the seminar was Engr. Roland A. Aquino, the Power Use Development Engineer of PANELCO III. He discussed the organizational structure of PANELCO III and provided explanation on how energy is being transferred through power lines and how it reaches our household. His discussion on best practices was engaging and informative, as he shared practical tips on energy-efficient appliance use. For instance, he explained that when using an electric fan, it is more energy-efficient to avoid using the oscillating function, as this feature consumes significantly more power compared to keeping the fan steady.

The second speaker, Roslinie B. Manansala, , shared valuable insights on the critical importance of clean water consumption. She emphasized that, out of all the bodies of water on Earth, only 1% is suitable for drinking, emphasizing the need for mindful water use.

Manansala’s session became particularly engaging when she shared practical tips and strategies to conserve water, including best practices like reusing greywater for watering plants. She reiterated the well-known phrase, “Every drop counts,” highlighting the importance preserving our limited water resources.

Meantime, the two speakers during the event were awarded with Certificate of Appreciation. Engr. Rondale Romeo Cabacang, OIC MENRO LGU Binalonan, for his help in organizing the seminar. Brgy. Canarvacan, on the other hand, was awarded for hosting the seminar. Brgy. Capt. Cabida along with other Brgy. Kagawad received the Certificate of Appreciation for Brgy. Canarvacan.

The seminar provided local business owners and other attendees with the knowledge, tips, and best practices they need to take meaningful steps towards water and energy efficiency and contribute in having a sustainable future.
