On November 6, 2023, the Quality Assurance and Technology Office (QATO) at WCC Aeronautical & Technological College Binalonan, in collaboration with the Community Extension and Services Office (CESO), and the Unified Council of Aviators conducted an impactful Orientation on Sustainability for barangay officials in Binalonan, which took place at the Accreditation Room of WCC ATC Binalonan and attended by key representatives from the community, including punong barangays, barangay secretaries, and barangay kagawads from all 24 barangays in Binalonan.

The program started with an invocation led by Pastor Jojo Quibrantos, PVED Coordinator at WCC ATC Binalonan, followed by the singing of the national anthem. The Vice President for Academic Affairs of WCC ATC Binalonan Dr. Roger A. Martinez Jr., wholeheartedly welcome the key officials of the 24 barangays in Binalonan.

The orientation began with an insightful presentation by  Andrea Liz Diocares-Ebilane, head of QATO. She introduced the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discussed actionable steps that the barangay officials can take to contribute to each goal. Her presentation was both informative and engaging as she used real-life examples to make the SDGs relatable and accessible for everyone in the room. She emphasized the importance of these goals, not only for immediate community improvement but also as a lasting legacy for future generations. She underscored that achieving sustainability is a collective effort, one that ensures a better world for our children and grandchildren.

CESO Associate Raffa Peralta also shared an inspiring presentation on the best practices in sustainability that are currently implemented at WCC ATC Binalonan. He provided an overview of initiatives within the institution, giving the barangay officials a practical framework that they could adapt within their own communities. He also invited the barangay leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration, reinforcing the idea that sustainable development is most effective when communities work together toward shared goals.

Meanwhile, Dr. Lorna Bulosan, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, delivered heartfelt closing remarks. She emphasized the importance of implementing sustainable initiatives in each barangay, reminding the barangay officials that they hold the power to inspire meaningful change within their communities.  Certificates of Participation were then awarded to all attendees, acknowledging their commitment to learning and their potential role in driving sustainability efforts.

The orientation resonated deeply with the participants as a powerful call to action, motivating the barangay officials to apply these practices and take proactive steps to create a more sustainable future.
